Sul Ross State University is a public university in Alpine, Texas, United States, serving as the primary higher-education institution for the nineteen-county Big Bend region of far West Texas. Founded in 1917 as Sul Ross Normal College, it became a university in 1969 and has branch campuses in Del Rio, Uvalde, and Eagle Pass under the Sul Ross State International name.
