Seton Hall University is a private Catholic research university in South Orange, New Jersey, founded in 1856 by then-Bishop James Roosevelt Bayley. It is the oldest diocesan university in the United States and is known for its men's basketball program, which has made 13 NCAA Division I tournament appearances and reached the 1989 national championship game.
