Northeastern Illinois University is a public university in Chicago, Illinois, founded in 1867 by the Cook County Board of Commissioners. It began as the first teacher training school in Cook County and now has a main campus in North Park and two other Chicago campuses. The university also operates WZRD Chicago 88.3 FM, described as one of the longest-running free-form community radio stations.
