Michigan State University is a public land-grant research university in East Lansing, Michigan, founded in 1855 as the Agricultural College of the State of Michigan. It became the first land-grant college in the United States after Michigan designated it under the Morrill Act in 1863, and it includes professional schools such as law, business, nursing, medicine, and veterinary medicine.
