University of Limerick

The University of Limerick is a public research university in Limerick, Ireland, founded in 1972 as the National Institute for Higher Education, Limerick, and granted university status in 1989. Its campus spans both banks of the River Shannon at Plassey, County Limerick, about 5 kilometres from Limerick city centre. The university offers a cooperative education programme that includes work placements of up to eight months as part of a degree, a programme identified in the source as Ireland's first of its kind.
