The University of Trier is located in Trier, Germany. Founded in 1473, it was closed in 1798 by order of the French administration in Trier and re-established in 1970 after a hiatus of about 172 years. The university has six faculties and around 470 faculty members; in the 2025/2026 winter semester, around 10,000 students were enrolled, including 61.66% women and 17.2% foreign students.
