Saarland University is a public research university in Saarbrücken, the capital of Saarland, Germany. Founded in 1948 in Homburg in cooperation with France, it is organized into six faculties covering major fields of science and was recognized as an excellence center for computer science in Germany in 2007. Its international profile is reflected in its bilingual German and French staff, its designation as a European University in 1950, and the establishment of the Europa-Institut in 1951; ten academics received the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize while working there.
