The University for Foreigners of Siena is located in Siena, Tuscany, in central Italy. Founded in 1917 as a school of Italian language and culture for foreign students, it received legal university recognition in 1992 and subsequently opened enrollment to Italian students. It is one of three historically foreign-student-focused universities in Italy, alongside the University for Foreigners of Perugia and the University for Foreigners Dante Alighieri of Reggio Calabria.
