The University of Salento is a university in Lecce, Italy, founded in 1955 by Giuseppe Codacci Pisanelli. It began operating in the 1955-1956 academic year, became the Free University of Lecce in 1960, and came under government authority in the 1967-1968 academic year. Since 2005, it has been a partner of the Euro-Mediterranean Center for Climate Change and was ranked 501-600 in the 2018 Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
