University of Santiago de Compostela

The University of Santiago de Compostela is a public university based in Santiago de Compostela, Galicia, Spain, with a second campus in Lugo. Tracing its origins to a school opened in Santiago in 1495, it is one of the world's oldest universities in continuous operation. Its facilities cover more than 130 hectares and include over 2,000 teachers, more than 42,000 students, and over 1,000 administration and services staff; in 2009, it received Campus of International Excellence accreditation from Spain's Ministry of Education.
