The University of Lleida is based in Lleida, Catalonia, Spain, and traces its origins to 1300, when it was established as the Estudi General de Lleida. It was the first university founded in Catalonia and in the ancient Crown of Aragon. After a three-century lapse, it was reestablished by the Catalan Parliament on 12 December 1991; its historic central building is on Rambla d'Aragó, alongside newer campuses and buildings.
