Lancaster University, officially The University of Lancaster, is a public research university in Lancaster, Lancashire, England, established by royal charter in 1964. Its purpose-built campus at Bailrigg, south of Lancaster, covers 300 acres, and the university is organised as a residential collegiate institution with eight undergraduate colleges. Lancaster is a member of the N8 Group of research universities and received a Gold rating in the Government's 2017 and 2023 Teaching Excellence Framework.
