University of Pécs

The University of Pécs is a higher education institution in Pécs, Hungary, whose origins date to 1367, when permission was granted to establish a university there. It is the official successor of the Elisabeth University of Pozsony, founded in 1912, and the present institution was formed in 2000 through the merger of the Faculty of Medicine with Janus Pannonius University. The university has approximately 25,000 students, including about 5,700 international students, and includes ten faculties, clinics, and research institutes.
